Bath Time

If this is the second time you've read about this weekend then apologies. I have little to add to the Gillis review except to agree with the many and admirable sentiments expressed over on Virtual Gillis. Omissions from that post were the table football scores (four games to nil in my favour) and also the fact that I forgot to take a coat, hence parading round Bath in my academics uniform all weekend.

Many thanks to all who made it possible, in particular Nana and Grampy for having the girls for two nights and Grandma and Grandad for having them for one.

Back next week

Nick

The weekend

I'll let Nick fill you in on the Pete Stag do stories offline, if you are interested in them, but whilst he was away, I went to Mum's for a bit of adult conversation and some extra pairs of hands. I failed on the conversation bit, but the hands came in very useful, cooking, feeding and cleaning (mainly children). We didn't "do" much but we had great fun. We managed to find some DVDs for our quickly looming journey from hell (aka a long haul flight to Canada and back with 2 small children!) and have managed to see Cinderella twice in the space of 12 hours! (Think Jessica'll be okay on the flight afterall! Just Madeline to contend with!)

I feel the need for a special mention of thanks to Nana for the evenings entertainment. All I can say is that I'm glad they live in a detached house! Here's the ingredients, work it out for yourselves; two small children under 31/2, several varying sized saucepans, several varying sized wooden spoons, a few saucepan lids for good measure........ but unfortunately no earplugs!

Anyway, thanks Mum and Dad! The full night's sleep and general help was fantastic.

Ring out the bells to-night...

Nick's got a job,
Nick's got a job..... etc

Yes. I feel it's such a momentous occassion that I have to "blog it".

Nick had an interview and presentation at Warwick MBA Centre today and was successful, it seems. He is now a fully fledged (temporary for two years) "Teaching Fellow" for Warwick Business School. Hurrah!

Suffice to say, I'm rubbing my hands together with glee. Oh, and of course I'm quite proud of him too!!!!!!!!

Some children just won't be told!

Only slightly cruel! We had a big cuddle afterwards so that's okay!

Okay, okay it's late but we're all suffering in this house. So...

Maddy's 1!

"How did that happen?", "It doesn't seem five minutes...", "Doesn't time fly...", blah, blah, blah, but it's all VERY true.

So Madeline had her first birthday on Saturday 4th March and the clan were invited to enjoy the festivities. The day started as usual, a grumpy, hungry second child but she soon warmed up to the idea of a birthday, and really quite enjoys watching her big sister open all her presents for her. You don't have a dog and bark yourself afterall! But seriously, her parents did intervene at times to let Maddy have a turn, but she really wasn't bovvered... look at her face!

In the afternoon Grandma, Grandad, Nanny, Nana, Grampy, Uncles; Pete, John and Andrew, Aunts; Rebecca, Lucy and Courtney, Cousins; James, William, Ella and Megan all descended upon us for a few hours of frivolity. A good time was had by all (except Rebecca I suspect as she got lumbered with five children to entertain whilst everyone else had a jolly time downstairs - Sorry Bec!), even Madeline forgot that her teeth were hurting for a while there. Anyway, the girls were exhausted but happy!

So to Sunday, we pottered. Did very little in the morning (apart from take varying lotions and potions) with the intention of perking ourselves up for a visit from Deb, Oliver and Andzrezheopwnbqcwxipu! (Don't know exactly how to spell his name.... It's Polish but sounds like Andre!!) We all had a lovely time, playing and dressing up...

And that was that really! Back to the humdrum today. We all sang happy birthday to Madeline at Monkey Music which she greatly enjoyed and showed off her dancing prowess. But that's about it really. I need my next dose of extra strength ibuprofen so off I toddle.

See ya!
