Weekly report

Nothing of GREAT significance, but some visiting and fun!

We tried Madeline in the door bouncer, which she eventually thought was great fun, when Jessica finally got told off and sent away. Jessica thought it was great fun to a) bounce her very hard, and b) swing her very high. I naturally was on hand, but didn't want to stop it instantly as I was videoing the whole event. I eventually realized that I needed to be responsible so stopped the video.

The weekend then arrived. Nick and I went to one of those Public House things while Nana sat the children. We saw the "Guitar Ba****ds" at the King's Head in Buckingham. Muchos celebrating of John's (my brother) birthday and the fact that we were free, although the thought of two young children in the early hours deters any major bingeing.

In the afternoon, we popped in on Honorary auntie Beck and her "friend" Jason. Naturally within twenty minutes Jessica was rifling through the contents of Beck's bag, and trying on her shoes. Good to see that Beck hasn't forgotten her teaching role! A lovely lunch, with live8 and two quite grumpy children, then sleep in the car!

A few grumpy hours watching the rest of live8 (fell asleep in Macartney's set - what an anti-climax that was!), ironing etc - oh what a life!

Sunday hailed a visit from more friends from the north - you wouldn't think we had any more, but we do! The Havelock entourage arrived just after lunch and a great afternoon's playing ensued. The children entertained each other, the adults chatted, occasionally having to do a little crowd control. A lovely afternoon ended with a cracking BBQ - Thanks Gaskells! - and then four very tired children were carted off to relevant sleep areas!

So, a lovely weekend. Now I sit doing my weekly task as my children sleep and my husband drinks with a load of academics in Cambridge. As long as he doesn't return home wearing his jumper draped over his shoulders and smoking cigarettes from holders I think I can cope.

Fingers crossed for a peaceful night.
