It's coming home, it's coming home....
So, with the rest of the world, the Wylie house was forced (kicking and screaming) into watching an England game for some big tournament going on at the moment. I decided that I'd lessen (?) the blow of this madness by inviting all waifs and strays that we knew, with no better plans, to come and eat some burnt chicken drumsticks with us..... and some of them actually did!!!
We had a great day, eating and baking in the sunshine, interspersed with the odd moment in front of the TV although if you're Janet or me you managed to dodge that very well! There was (as always) lots of merriment, and when we didn't pay Jessica enough attention in any five minute spell, she burst into song.... not precocious AT ALL! Josh and Harry were a credit to their parents, polite and mild-mannered throughout a trying time. It can't be easy making 3yr old toys fun for long when you're 10yrs old, but they did a grand job of the stiff upper lip and I thoroughly enjoyed both their comapny and help. (Is that a compliment to them, their parents, or a statement of "sad-ness" in reference to me?????!!!!!!!!)
Anyway, thanks to all who came. Nick and I both felt we had a lovely day.
Oh and I must just add a hearty thank you to Tim and Sarah who not only STRUGGLED their way here for the second half, battling traffic etc, but managed to leave a huge crate of beer, steaks and chops. Think we'll have to come and visit you three soon and return the favour!!!!!!
More to come tomorrow night (if I can be bothered!)
x
