Lateness...

So, I've been trying to blog all week but Nick needed help with work and then the internet wouldn't let me... excuses, excuses!

So we went to Glasgow last weekend for a Gillis visit (including parents which actually makes life a lot easier!), we traveled up on Friday and came home at bedtime on Sunday. The children were really good all weekend, the parents however, were drinking beer at 5pm on Friday night - which set the tone for the weekend somewhat.

Anyway, we went to the seaside on Saturday afternoon which was lovely. Nice and warm (no too hot!) and not windy. Jessica was up for it straight away (shock, horror) but Madeline was more unsure of the graining yellow stuff. Until we told her she had no choice but to like it on account of the fact that every family holiday she goes on for the next 15 years involving Bude! Then she realized she was on a road to nowhere, got down and investigated! Anyway, suffice to say the children (and boys) thoroughly enjoyed themselves.( Oh and our camera ran out of battery so for more jollops and japes see www.virtualgillis.blogspot.com ) So we came home tired but content, children had pasta and went to bed, adults had curry and went to bed!

Sunday saw a trip to a manor house thingy where the Beep were doing a Springwatch thingy (know a lot don't I). Anyway, there was live music (albeit on a Scottish theme... can't have everything eh?!), picnic-ing, treasure hunting in the hope of winning a bike and general merriment. We then returned back chez Gillis, tired but content, to have tea and set off on a long trek back to Leamington. All was well in the Wylie car at about 9pm (these light nights are a b****r!) and we arrived at about midnight. Hence no immediate blogging.

So there you have it. A lovely weekend was had by all, now blogged. More to come on Sunday after World Cup BBQs and birthday parties.
