Day 6 - Gravenhurst
Our penultimate day in Gravenhurst and Canada began with a relaxing stroll around said town taking in all of the wonders of the main street (or 'Drag' as Robyn called it). This stroll ended up at a local store where we partook of real Canadian pancakes and maple syrup - the pancakes were about an inch thick and so it took a lot of the syrup to cover them adequately. We then sauntered down to Marsha and Bryan's once again for a spot of post-pancake lunch, before the junior Wylies said farewell to Peter and Courtney.
We were off to explore Muskoka and headed straight for the place everyone is talking about - Guluha Lions and Tigers. Bryan was rather sceptical about whether this place actually existed so we entered it with some trepidation. However, there was nothing to fear as were were given a personal guided tour by the owner who informed us that he had had many of the cats (there were leopards, panthers, lynxs as well as lions and tigers) since they were only days old. He also explained that one of the enormous Siberian tigers (pictured below) liked to come in to his house of an evening and watch TV! Also, the main male lion was famous as he had starred in a film with Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer no less. Maddy chatted to all the animals on the way round, whereas Jessica was only really interested in going to see the dog which barked at us as we arrived. Anyway, a bit surreal but we had to go if only for Bryan's sake.
We then made our way across to a small town called Dorset home to Robinson's Store, where we shopped before heading back to Gravenhurst. A pretty feeble attempt to go somewhere other than Boston Pizza for dinner ended with the remaining Wylies enjoying their third Boston Pizza meal of the week, before we returned to Inn On The Bay. Uncle Sam and Grandad organised baths whilst Liz and I packed (or should I say whilst Liz packed and I got things wrong) and a brief Madeline performance aside we turned in quite early.
