And so to Sunday
Today was the day of Oliver's 4th birthday party which we decided we would head towards Milton Keynes early (on account of Bon Jovi at the Bowl and the Grand Prix at Silverstone), so we got up and at 'em and bundled in the car just in time for Vernon's lie in! We needed petrol so we stopped on the A45 (our detour to miss traffic!). Which we did. One problem.... Nick had an encounter with the petrol nozzle, there was a big tussle, and... I don't think we should go into details. The end result was that Nick had petrol all over him. A hasty retreat back home saw change of plan #1. I'd take the girls to buy Jessica a big girls car seat, Nick would shower and change and then we'd head off for a picnic (as planned).
Off we went, waited ages in Mothercare, then I couldn't do the new seat, old seat and 2 children. Cue change of plan #2! We came home and sorted car seats out (not as simple as you might think for two ****wits!) and ended up having a picnic in the garden! The girls thought this was great (and at least it wasn't far to organize cleaning them up!).
So then we drove over to Oliver's party. Here we did lots of bouncing, decorated biscuits, had a race, did some more bouncing and Jessica, Madeline and Ella played Mummies, Daddies and Baby. You work out who was who! They played long and hard and left there with very red faces and big grins. So it was home Nick and don't spare the horses to some pasta and a little garden nudity complete with sprinkler and finally, Nick is reading bedtime stories as I type!
So that was the day that was. Think I need to go and sing something now so I'll leave y'all with photographic evidence. Had a lovely day, thanks to all involved in making it so!

Oh! The shoe envy photo. Paul was sporting some incredibly bright pink shoes (look underneath the table - you won't miss it... Fluorescent pink!) which at the moment of this photo we were all .... erm ..... praising?
