We went, we saw, we conquered (well Maddy did!)

So last weekend saw a whole family visit to the Frozen North. That's right folks. Liz managed to shift herself all the way up to Glasgow for the first time in about 15 months!

Anyway, we plodded up on Thursday evening after work, arriving in the nearly wee small hours.
Friday saw us "being" in the morning - Janet and I went into East Kilbride after dropping Hannah at a birthday party, then in the afternoon we went to see a children's play "Snow Baby". Truly brilliant, both Jessica and I were carried away by the story, music and atmosphere.... bless us. Resulting in a pure and unadulterated bribe to stop Jessica crying at the end. A ride in the fire engine. "Ring, the bell, ring the bell!", was repeatedly shouted in vain hope for even the faintest glimmer of a smile. It paid off ... eventually!

Saturday was a day for doing absolutely nothing it appears. The kids loved it - adults did too - apart from Janet methinks (the only adult not to drop off to sleep for a few precious minutes whilst varying children tried desperately to trash the house!).

Sunday saw a very necessary trip to see Mrs Claus. Jessica wasn't overly keen but Hannah seemed ok with her so Jess just hovered by Hannah's side for protection. Madeline, however, seemed to incite the phrase "face.....bovvered" from her parents! And afterwards, a bracing country walk around the grounds, lunch and home for a rest. It's all too hectic up there you know.

Monday was a short one as it's a little dull to tell you about all the cars, lorries etc we passed on route home. So the morning was spent at a Parent and toddler Christmas party where Madeline finally succeeded in pulling a Scot (well half - Duncan to be precise - hence the conquering). The Vicar's choice of entertainment was ... erm ... interesting shall we say but The Old F.C. was dragged out again and Jessica was amazed that he managed to buy her and Hannah exactly the same "really nice" cup! Will wonders never cease!

So to the next onslaught of photos of children opening yet more pressies. Will be back after the festivities. Hope you all have a good Christmas, our thoughts will be with those far away and/or those with other things on their minds.

X
